Q: How do I use this site most effectively? A: If you're looking for a specific product, the most effective way to use this site is to search for the entire product name, for example, "Netgear WGR614", in the category "All". If you're looking to browse through a general class of products, the most effective way to use this site is to search in a specific category, for example, "Electronics & Computers" for the name of your product class, for example, "wireless router" and then use the "Found in" links in the results page to narrow down your choices by category. To do so, first expand one of the "Found in" entries by clicking on the blue double-arrow (circled in the figure below): ![]() Then choose the subcategory that best fits your needs from the list: ![]() If you're done with a list, you can hide it by clicking on the blue double-arrow. Q: Why does the site work differently when I search "All" categories? A: Amazon places a lot of restrictions on third-party developers when searching their entire database in order to limit the load on their servers. One of the restrictions is that only five pages of results are returned for any search. Another restriction is that you can't sort the results. Additionally, the way developers interact with the Amazon server is different when searching their entire database instead of searching a specific category. As a result, it is difficult to use categories to "drill-down" and find a specific item. Therefore, unless you know exactly what you are looking for, we recommend searching an individual category instead of the entire database. A: Amazon describes Amazon Prime as "'All you can eat' express shipping". Basically, you pay $79 per year and get unlimited free 2-day shipping on all items sold by and shipped from Amazon.com (but not third-party sellers). It's the best thing ever: there's no minimum purchase price to qualify for free shipping, you can share your Prime account with up to 4 family members, and you can upgrade to overnight shipping for $3.99 per item. A: Amazon allows third-party developers like us to search their database through the Amazon Web Services (AWS) program. So this site sends your search queries to the AWS server, processes the results, and displays only the items that qualify for Prime or SuperSaver shipping. It's all legal, and Amazon likes it because we generate sales for them. If you end up buying something that you found on our site, we also get a small commission through Amazon's Associates program. Q: Is this site secure? A: This site is entirely secure because we don't collect or store any personal information. When you click on the product links, you are directed to Amazon's website and any purchases you make are processed directly by Amazon's servers. | ||
